The Nevada County Composers Cooperative is putting out a call for entries as part of a nation-wide event.
Mark Vance is the Executive Director of the Nevada County Composers Co-operative and says the idea is to invite composers to create an original piece of music and send a piece of the composition to the local co-operative so it can be produced into a string of music.
Vance says he expects to get quite a few submissions because of the number of composers in the area.
The deadline to enter submissions is April 15.
Vance says the music will be strung together in a sound studio and premiered on May 14.
Vance is hoping local radio stations will pick up and play a piece, if not all of the music. It will also be posted on the Nevada County Composers Cooperative website. The event reflects the American Composers Forum, which is a large, nation-wide organization, and their celebration of a Composers Night Out.
