The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District  Board of Directors last evening voted to hire a consultant to look for the Department’s new Fire Chief.  Board member Dave Hanson says the 28 thousand dollar contract goes to  Fire Force One an Elk Grove based company run by former State Fire Marshall Ronnie Coleman.

The contract is for 120 days to locate a new chief to replace former Nevada County Consolidated Chief Tim Fike.  Hanson says all three local agencies Consolidated, Grass Valley, and Nevada City Fire are still working on some type of joint powers agreement to save costs; and he thinks that could be done under one chief.

Hanson says all the fire departments are dispatched  off what’s called   “closest resource”  so it doesn’t matter  if you are in Grass Valley or Nevada City you may well have a consolidated firefighter and truck show up when you call for help.
