After originally anticipating going down from the Orange to the Red Tier this week, Nevada County has, instead, dropped two tiers, to the most restrictive, or Purple Tier for what’s considered “widespread” coronavirus infection activity. In his daily update, Governor Newsom said 28 counties were moving down to that tier. The county’s interim Public Health Officer, Doctor Rick Johnson, says our case rate has jumped, in one week, from 6 per-one-hundred-thousand population to 14…
And although the positivity rate here does not met the criteria, at 4-percent, and has also doubled, it only takes one negative number in one category to go to a worse tier. Newsom also says counties could move to a lower tier after meeting the criteria for only one week instead of two weeks. Johnson says California is also strengthening its face covering guidance, with more people staying indoors this time of year, and with the holiday season usually meaning more gatherings…
Among the notable restrictions, dining at restaurants will have to be entirely outdoors. The changes are scheduled to go into effect on Tuesday. Also, the Nevada County libraries are not reopening after all. Classroom learning is also not supposed to be allowed. Schools make make an announcement on Tuesday.
