There was one really hot day but for the most part the weather cooperated for the 5 days of the Nevada County Fair this year. Fair CEO Rea Callender says overall attendance was up a few thousand at more than 91,000 people, over 7-thousand exhibits were entered, and the food booths on treat street had an exceptional year.
Together more than $825,000 was generated by Treat Street , that is about $15,000 more than last year.
And Calendar says the Ag Mechanics Auction Friday night was also higher than last year.
235 animals were sold at the Junior Livestock Auction, grossing more than $463,000 for the youth of Nevada County, which is about $30,000 over last year. Plus, there were 584 bumps. That’s when a buyer or other person in the audience offers additional money to the price of the animal as a benefit to the student.
