Thanks to the recent storms, a much larger portion of California has now been declared “free of drought”. The U.S Drought Monitor, based at the University of Nebraska, says that’s 42%, which mostly includes the North State, or from the Bay Area to the Oregon border, which also includes Nevada County. When the Drought Monitor examines California, it considers precipitation totals, as well as snowpack depth, reservoir levels, the health of the groundwater supply, as well as strength of river and stream flows.
