Nevada County Gets Cannabis Equity Grant

Nevada County is among a number of jurisdictions in California getting funding to assess what’s termed “cannabis equity”. County Community Development Director Sean Powers says the grant program focuses on the inclusion and support of individuals in the legal marketplace who are from communities who may have been negatively or disproportionately impacted by cannabis criminalization. The county is getting just under 150-thousand dollars to put together a study‚Ķ

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development says some of the funding will be directly allocated to applicants and licensees specifically identified by local jurisdictions as being from communities most harmed by cannabis prohibition‚Ķ

To date, the Office says jurisdictions seeking to create this inclusive regulatory framework represent roughly a-quarter of the state’s population.
