Good news regarding Nevada County’s efforts to save water. The Nevada Irrigation District reports that they’ve already hit the state maximum cutback mandate of 36-percent, which went into effect in June. District Operations Manager Chip Close says that’s on top of a major improvement in May of 33-percent, which was 10 points better than April. Below-normal temperatures in May likely helped, but it was an above-average June…
June is also the first month that water providers could face state penalities for not hitting their targets…
June is also the first month that customers were mandated to reduce watering from three to two days a week. There are around 45-thousand customers in the Nevada Irrigation District. And tomorrow (Tues) evening, Board member Nick Wilcox talks about the drought. That starts at 5:30 at the Banner Grange, on McCourtney Road. Pizza and salad will be provided.
