Homeless veterans are getting more support in Nevada County. The county receives a limited number of vouchers from the federal government to find permanent housing for homeless vets, and now the county is getting a few more. They are called HUD-VASH vouchers, and County Veterans Services Officer Kevin Edwards explains what that is…
Last year, the county counted 22 homeless veterans, and applied for and received 22 vouchers. Out of those 22 veterans, 18 were successfully housed. Edwards is also asking any local landlords out there to make rental properties available to house veterans under this program.
