This years book for Nevada County Reads and writes is a love story and legal drama that received five starred reviews and multiple honors, it is the book ” Marcelo in the Real World” by Francisco X. Stork. Nevada County Librarian Jessica Hudson says the book is suitable for ages 14 and older. The main character, Marcelo Sandoval is a high school student with an autism-like impairment, and he’s always attended a special school where his differences have been protected.

Then in his Junior Year , his father demands that Marcelo work in his law firms mail room in order to experience “the real world.”

Nevada County Reads and Writes, this year, also includes a writing competition for High School students with awards from $75 to $200 dollars. Hudson says the author, Francisco X Stork, will be coming to Nevada County.
