Today is Election Day in California. It’s the Primary election for presidential candidates, and some other offices including U-S Senator. In Nevada County, the medical marijuana initiative known as Measure W should bring out the voters, as well as two Nevada City measures, and a supervisorial race. Primary elections usually have lower voter turnouts than general elections in November, but Clerk-Recorder Greg Diaz says that’s not the case at all in Nevada County…
Diaz says the poll workers are in place, and they have been preparing for months for the ballot count that gets underway when the polls close tonight. There are many people who vote early, with a short wait being reported at the elections office yesterday, and there are also many people who vote by mail. If you are one of those people who vote by mail, but haven’t sent it in yet, Diaz says you don’t have to rush down to the elections office anymore…
The polls open(ed) at 7am. They close at 8pm.
