Nevada County Selected for FEMA Disaster Training

Nevada County has been selected to attend an Emergency Management Institute that offers Community-Specific Integrated Emergency Management  training at the National Emergency Training Center located in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  The training  takes place November 4 – 7, of this year but Nevada County OES Director Vic Ferrara says  the preparation begins with FEMA members coming to Nevada County.

Nevada County’s hazard for the course will either be a wildfire or a hazardous materials incident. The scenario is designed to be very specific, realistic, and relevant to the local community.

The attendees for the training  have yet to be selected.but may include up to 50 personnel from various local agencies that would have a role in disaster response and recovery. FEMA reimburses all training costs including, attendee transportation, housing, and meals.
County CEO Rick Haffey gives Many kudos and thanks to County Office of Emergency Services Manager, Vic Ferrera, in  applying for and securing this FEMA funded training opportunity that will help better prepare our community for the next major local disaster.
