The home of the 2-1-1 referral service for Nevada County now has a much more streamlined name. The original name, established in 2003, focused only on disabled senior needs for Nevada, as well as Sierra counties. And even though they’ve greatly expanded services, by becoming the 2-1-1 home in 2011, it’s still been called the Nevada-Sierra Regional In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority. But Executive Director Ann Guerra says they are now known as “Connecting Point”…
Guerra says although they can now connect people with a wide range of community programs and services, they get the most inquiries, by far, regarding affordable housing…
And last year, Connecting Point added employment referral services through CalWorks. Other services including food, health, transportation, legal assistance, substance abuse, children and youth, veterans, public safety, and education.
