Nevada County’s Community Advisory Group to provide recommendations for a marijuana ordinance has finished its preliminary work. The ninth and final regular meeting was held yesterday at the Foothill Events Center in Grass Valley. Private consulting firm M-I-G, which is facilitating the meetings, laid out a worksheet that detailed areas of common ground on various cannabis-related issues, each of the 16 CAG members spoke, and public comment was also taken. CAG member Leland French from Grass Valley thought the group covered a lot of ground since their first meeting back in May…
But CAG member Pamela Swartz from Nevada City thought the time went by too quickly, and the meetings were too formal…
Although there were areas of common ground on issues such as acreage and how far grows should be set back from properties, there was no specific recommendation on any issue. M-I-G will now compile a list of CAG findings, and according to their contract, will meet one more time with the 16-member panel before taking those findings to the Board of Supervisors.
