The numbers compare three-year periods, in this case 2010 through 2012 with 2011 through 2013. The biggest ranking change was a 22 spot improvement for physical environment. Cutler says the main benefit of these reports, from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is increasing awareness of health issues in a community and keeping it in the public consciousness, as a way to motivate people to improve their living environment. Marin County is number-one, followed by San Mateo, Santa Clara, Orange, and Placer Counties.
