After going up in January, Nevada County’s unemployment rate has taken a slight drop in February. At 5-point-2 percent, that’s down of one-tenth of a point from January, where the rate had risen half-a-point from December. No dramatic numbers for February, with civilian employment up, overall, by just 60 jobs. The biggest increase for a single sector was in government, with an increase of 90 jobs. The biggest numerical drop was in the retail sector, or 30 fewer jobs. Nevada County has the 14th lowest jobless rate among the 58 counties. Meanwhile, the statewide unemployment rate fell by two-tenths of a point, to 5-point-5 percent.
