Nevada Union High School’s first football game of the season isn’t for another two weeks, but there will be a football event at Hooper Stadium tonight. There will be a roast to honor Dave Humphers, who resigned this spring after 22 seasons as Head Coach…
That’s Mike Bratton, who is organizing the event along with Tammy Noxon. Humphers has 195 wins to his credit since 1991, and led N-U to ten league titles and four section championships. He was named California Coach of the Year in 2005. Grass Valley Mayor Dan Miller will be one of the roasters. He says in addition to winning almost 80 percent of his games over the years, Humphers is also known for a particular accessory to his wardrobe…
Bratton says the event gets underway at 6pm…
Admission is free, cost of the hamburger dinner is five dollars. Bratton says donations to the boosters will be gladly accepted.
