New 3D Mammography Scanner Approved for Use

Insight Imaging of Grass Valley has received final approval to put its new Tomo Synthesis 3 D Mammography machine to work scanning patients for potential breast cancers.  Radiologist Melisa Agnes says  she purchased the almost $400,000  state of the art machine to  make it possible to more clearly detect cancer cells, even in women with dense breasts and those with an increased risk for breast cancer.

Dr. Agnes says Insight Imaging just received it’s final certification Wednesday morning to begin using the  new mammography machine .

Insight Imaging is also the recipient of a Susan G Komen grant to provide no or low cost mammograms to women with no insurance or with high deductibles . Dr. Agness says those funds can be used for mammograms on the new 3 D imaging machine.
