New Cook-off Event at Draft Horse Classic a Success

The competition was fierce as six chefs faced off in the first ever Sausage, Brats, and Beer Cook-off at The Draft Horse Classic and Harvest Fair at the Nevada County Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon. The Sausage Throwdown, as event organizer Scott Gomes referred to it, had the chefs select any type of sausage and prepare the sausage any way they¬† wanted as long as they included the “secret ingredient”…

Four certified barbeque judges were faced with a tough choice when it came to picking a winner.
Local fairground favorite Chef Arnie Romanello was one of the four judges.

And the winner is….
Jody Hall of High Sierra BBQ and Sausage Company in Placerville, California.
Jody explains how she incorporated the secret ingredient into a pasta dish that included her homemade wine cheese sausage.

Jody will be back in action Sunday participating in the second annual BBQ Cook-off.
The Draft Horse Classic and Harvest Fair at the Nevada County Fairgrounds all weekend long.
