New Leadership at Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has new leaders in Nevada County. Former leaders Don and Martha Shepperd transitioned out at the the end of June and Lt Sidney Salcido and his wife Reina Salcido arrived on July 3rd. The Salcidos come to Grass Valley from Southern California where they were stationed at the Salvation Army training college in Rancho Palos Verde. The Salcido’s hit the ground running and one project they are focusing on is the Booth House on the old Rough and Ready Highway just outside of Grass Valley

The Booth House, formerly the Manzanita Place, provides a number of resources for homeless families.

The Salcido’s toured The Booth House and discovered that a large number of deferred maintenance projects are causing the facility to deteriorate.

Donations have been down this past year so  fiscal challenges make repairs even more challenging.
The Salvation Army also provides rental assistance, emergency utility assistance, and food distributions to Nevada County residents in need..

Anyone interested in supporting the Salcido’s in their efforts to improve the Booth House and other Salvation Army projects are encouraged to contact the Grass Valley Office on Alta Street.
