If you’ve been at the intersection of Loma Rica and Brunswick Roads recently, you probably noticed a new sign. That sign is a welcome to the Nevada County Airport, and a lot of craftsmanship and private donations went into it. Airport Director Lee Ocker says it was almost entirely privately funded…
And they did. The local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Ninety-Nines Association of Women Pilots also contributed, along with resources from CalFire, the U-S Forest Service, and other airport supporters. The sign is kind of like something you’d see in the National Forest, and was mostly done by hand, with a little help from a computerized cutting machine…
The airport did pay for the permits and some of the materials. The sign is up now. There’s a little landscaping still to be done around it, and Ocker says there will be a dedication ceremony for it, coming up in the near future.
