Newsom Recall Will Cost 592-thousand Here

Governor Newsom’s recall election is expected to cost counties around 215-million dollars. That’s 15-million dollars more than county public health officials requested from Newsom in this year’s state budget to help them recover from the pandemic. In Nevada County, it’s expected to cost over 592-thousand dollars. But Assistant Clerk-Recorder Natalie Adona says that’s a fairly typical cost, that special elections aren’t cheap…

A coalition of county organizations has requested that reimbursement funding be included in the state budget. Adona is confident in being able to replenish the county general fund for this election, with its strong political overtones. But she says it’s not common to get all the money back…

Meanwhile, the recall vote has not been scheduled yet. Adona says it could be as soon as August or as late as December.
