Another local coronavirus emergency declaration has been made in Nevada County. This one comes from the Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors. The district says it’s needed, to protect customers and employees, while ensuring water deliveries are maintained. Director Nick Wilcox says it immediately loosens restrictions around ways the district does business during the duration of the outbreak. That includes suspending customer water disconnections…
Wilcox says NID has also set aside a 250-thousand dollar contingency fund…
But Wilcox says it’s not anticipated the fund will need to be tapped very much at this time. The declaration also allows the district to enter into mutual aid contracts with neighboring water agencies. And officials say it addresses the potential conditions of a widespread coronavirus transmission, affecting the district’s rate of employee absenteeism and continuity of operations.
