NID Conservation Rates Still Strong

Despite mandatory conservation rates being lifted by the state, and an easing of the drought, Californians continue to save water at a good rate. The conservation rate for the Nevada Irrigation District was 32-point-7 percent in April, and 36-percent in May, according to Operations Manager Chip Close…

Close says NID has just recently received paperwork from the state to propose their own conservation targets, if any, based on their ability to withstand another three dry years. And he says he expects a zero target this summer, but he doesn’t anticipate much impact on savings…

And Close also reminds customers that certain state water regulations are now permanent, and can still result in fines, in extreme cases. That includes using hose shutoff nozzles…and not hosing off sidewalks or flooding gutters with water. But watering will no longer be restricted to two days a week.
