The history of the Nevada Irrigation District is the subject at this month’s Nevada County Historical Society Meeting. Les Nicholson will be the guest speaker. He was with the N-I-D for about 34 years before retiring, and his father also worked for N-I-D for a number of years. Nicholson says the N-I-D was formed in the 1920s, and that most people believe it was put together by a group of ranchers because the mining industry was drying up.
Nicholson will talk about the people involved in N-I-D’s early years…
Nicholson’s speech and Powerpoint presentation will also include old photos and documents. The Nevada County Historical Society meeting is free and open to everyone. It’s tonight at 7 at the Madelyn Helling Library Gene Albaugh Community Room.
