Nevada Irrigation District General Manager Rem Scherzinger has announced the appointment of Mary Morris as the district’s new finance manager.
Morris, of El Dorado Hills, joined NID as interim finance manager in mid-October and accepted the regular full-time position on Dec. 8.
As NID’s chief financial officer, she will oversee a combined annual budget of $68.5 million and a team of 22 NID employees in accounting, customer service, information technology and purchasing.
Morris comes to NID following 11 years with the San Juan Water District where she served as financial and administrative services manager. More recently, she has completed interim projects with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department, City of Davis and the Sierra Fund.
Morris holds an MBA from California State University, Sacramento, where she also completed undergraduate studies in business administration/accountancy. She has worked in both the public and private sectors.
She is enthusiastic about joining NID on a full-time basis. “It’s been wonderful,” she said. “The people are great, the board has been very professional. We have a strong leadership team and a hard-working staff.”
