Portable cooking stoves and propane-fueled portable fire rings are permitted, because the fire levels can be monitored and maintained. The shortage is linked to the pandemic, which shut down campgrounds for a number of months last year, with seasonal employees laid off. Many have not returned. But Reyes says Scotts Flat was already booked at full capacity every weekend through the season. And about 75-percent capacity will still be allowed during the week.
