NID Preparing for Drought Declaration

The Governor has yet to declare a drought for California, but indicators are pointing in that direction. If so, water availability and rates for NID customers will be effected.
Nevada Irrigation District representative for Western Nevada County- District V, Nick Wilcox, addressed the Penn Valley Community at Wednesday evening’s town hall meeting.

Treated water customers will also be affected- mainly by cost not availability. Wilcox says that the district will have to go through the Proposition 218 notification process to add a “conservation rate” for water use above the established base or lifeline amount.

NID approved a six percent across the board rate increase and encouraged a voluntary 20% conservation efforts last week.
