NID Rate Increases on Agenda

Water rate increases are on the agenda for the Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors meeting this week.  NID Finance Manager Jim Mulberg says they are looking at a 6 percent increase which  means the average household user would seen their 2 month water bill increase by $4.33 cents and Irrigation customers with a half-miners-inch would pay $28 dollars more for 6 months.  Mulberg says the rate increase is to make income meet cost of operation.

The new rate schedule will be voted on at the Board meeting beginning at 9am Wednesday January 8th at the NID Headquarters on West Main Street. A public Hearing will be part of the process but Mulberg says protests must be submitted beforehand in writing.

If approved the new rates would take effect on the next billing cycle and rates could increase at a rate of 6 percent per year for the next 5 years.
