With Easter weekend looking more sunny and warmer in Nevada County, the Nevada Irrigation District is bracing for a possible surge in recreationists. The district closed all related facilities around the time of the shelter-in-place order, about three weeks ago. That meant cancelling camping reservations and not allowing boating, among other activities. But NID Recreation Manager Monica Reyes says hiking trails are still open at Scotts Flat and Rollins Lakes. But most other access is limited, due to crowding concerns…
But Reyes says it’s still hoped that facilities can re-open by Memorial Day weekend…
Meanwhile, PG and E has delayed accepting camping reservations at their north state recreational facilities until June, instead of April, with the potential to push it further. That includes Lake Spaulding in Nevada County. Campgrounds normally re-open around the middle of June, but that’s been delayed until at least June 29th. And the Tahoe National Forest isn’t expected to re-open their campgrounds until July first, at the earliest.
