Is the drought over, at least for Nevada County? The Nevada Irrigation District’s Board of Directors has rescinded its emergency drought declaration of a year ago. But Water Operations Manager Chip Close says it doesn’t impact residential use at this time, but does allow full deliveries for farmers and irrigation districts. NID is still under a state conservation mandate of 33-percent for residential customers. However, Close is hoping that will change soon…

The last snow survey of the season, in early April, will be a key factor as to whether the State Water Resources Control Board will significantly reduce conservation rates. A decision is expected at their meeting on April 20th.
