Development of a trail system around Scotts Flat reservoir remains up in the air. The Nevada Irrigation District has postponed adoption of a study of the Lower Connector Trail project. In the summer of 2017, the district closed the spillway, due to growing illegal activity. But it was reopened a few months later, after a lot of complaints from recreationists, with the district to study the feasibility of trail construction. That included the Lower Connector Trial. Jones says it would connect Campground One with Pasquale Road and the Cascade Shores area…

But Jones says the District Board could also opt to keep the pedestrian walkway over the spillway open permanently, as part of the repair project. And that would reduce the urgency for developing a trail system for now, while also saving money. The analysis of the repair project isn’t expected to be completed until late this year or early next year.
