Piped, treated water will be made available to 14 parcels in the Rattlesnake Road-Wheeler Cross Road area near Grass Valley, under a contract awarded Wednesday (Jan. 9) by the Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors.
The contract-winning quote of $459,800 was submitted by C&D Contractors, Inc. of Nevada City . It was the lowest among four quotes received by the district.
The job includes a new 16-inch pipeline from Dog Bar Road, across Wheeler Cross Road, and along Rattlesnake Road almost to Diamond Back Way. Construction is expected to begin in coming weeks, weather permitting.
The cost of the mainline will be shared by NID, which is up-sizing the size of the pipeline to meet future master plan needs, and local property owners who will receive a new water supply. Participating property owners will pay equal portions of the pipeline cost beyond NID’s share.
The next regular meeting of the NID Board of Directors will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the NID Business Center in Grass Valley. NID board meetings are open to the public.
