The Nevada Irrigation District is holding an informational meeting to bring elected officials and the community up to speed on issues related to water use, conservation and water rights in Nevada County. The NID Water Summit 2014 is a two hour session on Thursday July 24th. NID General Manager Rem Scherzinger says the drought conditions have raised issues that county hasn’t faced before.

Scherzinger and staff are presenting information to help understand NID operations as well as State regulatory actions.

The Summit will also look at how other similar water agencies are dealing with the drought and associated issues. Scherzinger will conclude the presentations by summarizing what the district looks like, the things that are effecting it, and some potential actions that the district could take to address issues.
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for public input.
