Members of a 50-person “Racism and Unconscious Bias Task Force”, created earlier this year in the Nevada Joint Union High School District, are scheduled to provide their first update to the Board of Trustees Tuesday night. The group held its first meeting about a month ago. It was sparked by a petition, signed by around a-thousand residents, put together by about half-a-dozen former alumni, upset about the nationwide protests that had been going on. Superintendent Brett McFadden says the fact that the district is well-over 75-percent white means an even greater urgency to address the issue…
McFadden says the Task Force will provide quarterly updates…
The Task Force will make recommendations sometime next year. That include include changes to curriculum and discipline policy.
