Charges have been dropped against a local concrete contractor who was allegedly involved with illegal cultivation and sale of marijuana as well as prescription pills. Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell says that after careful review of the evidence presented against Grady Jones, it was determined to be insufficient to move forward.

Jones was originally arrested for suspicion of cultivating marijuana illegally on multiple properties owned by himself and one property owned by his mother. His medical marijuana recommendation along with his girlfriend’s was posted at multiple grows. Additionally, Sheriff’s deputies obtained several hundred hydrocodone pills. Newell says the evidence was thoroughly reviewed before making the decision.

Newell says at that point the decision was made not to file the charges. Grady Jones is co-owner of Bobby Jones Concrete Construction–a long time Nevada County contractor.
