No Injuries In Plane Crash Near Washington

A single-engine plane crash to report in Nevada County Wednesday morning. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Jason Perry says the 84-year-old male pilot, from the Yuba City area, and the 73-year-old male passenger from North Dakota were not injured. They were on their way from Yuba City to Reno and were near Gaston Road, about nine miles from the town of Washington at the time problems began…

So, Perry says, the pilot guided the Cessna 172 to a ridge. The plane did strike a small tree in a large patch of manzanita bushes. But it landed on its wheels, without flipping over.

The landing gear was torn off the plane, with some minor damage to one of the wings.
