No Mention of Park Sale at Budget Hearing

No news is apparently good news from Sacramento when it comes to Empire Mine State Park. Nevada City City Councilman Robert Bergman and Nevada County Supervisor Hank Weston attended a Senate subcommittee hearing yesterday about the park and the State Parks budget. The subcommittee had earlier suggested exploring the idea of selling Empire Mine, but Bergman says that was never discussed this time…

State Senator Jim Nielsen, who represents part of Nevada County, is vice-chair of that subcommittee, and earlier voted to approve a potential sale of Empire Mine, with a proviso that the park remain in public hands.
