No news is apparently good news from Sacramento when it comes to Empire Mine State Park. Nevada City City Councilman Robert Bergman and Nevada County Supervisor Hank Weston attended a Senate subcommittee hearing yesterday about the park and the State Parks budget. State Senator Jim Nielsen, who represents part of Nevada County, is vice-chair of that subcommittee, and earlier voted to approve a potential sale of Empire Mine, with a proviso that the park remain in public hands.
