No One Is Gonna Buy It

We’ve all done once or twice, called in sick when we needed a day off.  Okay, maybe not all of us, not me boss!  Nope!!

A new survey of workers says 20% of people are willing to admit they have called in sick at least once per summer to  “enjoy the beautiful summer weather”.

A couple of things pop to mind….how can you trust the other 80%?  I mean if they are willing to lie to their boss, I’m sure they’d lie to a survey taker too.  And for the “honest” 20%, the key words in that question, as I see it, are “at least”!  How many days have these people called in and gone to the beach?

Human resource specialists warn slackers to be careful about fake calling in sick, it’s way riskier in the summer that in the winter.  In the winter you are more likely to curl up at home and listen to your radio by the fireplace.  Summertime slackers however are more likely to get their picture taken at the beach, or the river, or the amusement park by their fellow slackers.  Those photos then get uploaded to any number of social networking sights.  All the boss has to do is look once, and poof goes your retirement plan!

So, take my advice, go to work, and slack off there!  Who’s gonna notice?
