There’s a fairly new non-profit organization in town with the mission to assist caregivers with a free respite service. One Source-Empowering Caregivers was founded by Donna Raibley who also serves as the Executive Director.
Currently Raibley says they have 17 trained caregivers going to 20 homes, some of them are seeing two patients. The volunteers go through a 22 hour training program that takes place over three consecutive Saturdays and covers a number of required topics.

Raibley says what makes a good caregiver.
Raibley also says many of the individuals who have come forward to volunteer as respite care specialists have had a personal experience in caregiving for a loved one. Anyone interested in training to become a respite caregivier is urged to contact One Source Empowering Caregivers for information on their next training sessions coming up next March and April. www.empoweringcaregivers.org
