Currently Raibley says they have 17 trained caregivers going to 20 homes, some of them are seeing two patients. The volunteers go through a 22 hour training program that takes place over three consecutive Saturdays and covers a number of required topics.

Raibley also says many of the individuals who have come forward to volunteer as respite care specialists have had a personal experience in caregiving for a loved one.  Anyone interested in training to become a respite caregivier is urged to contact One Source Empowering Caregivers for information on their next training sessions coming up next March and April.  www.empoweringcaregivers.org
