North Auburn Homeless Camp Cleaned Up

A Placer County Sheriff’s Office POP or problem-oriented policing deputy used an inmate work crew to clean up a homeless camp in north Auburn Monday. Placer County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Dena Erwin says the woman found on the property was cited for possessing a stolen shopping cart and for trespassing, as she was behind several “no trespassing” signs posted by Placer County.

She says homeless camps, especially in the area of North Auburn are an increasing problem. Placer supervisors recently approved opening a homeless shelter in an empty building at the deWitt center.
