North San Juan Man Arrested for Domestic Violence

A North San Juan man is in jail again after he used a knife on a woman attempting to retrieve her clothing from his home. Nevada County Sheriff Lieutenant Steve Tripp says the incident happened Tuesday afternoon when the victim went to 42 year old Richard Dorton’s home on Highway 49.  Lieutenant Tripp says the woman was trying to pickup her personal items when a argument erupted. As the woman attempted to flee Dorton start a physical fight and pulled out a knife.

Dorton was taken into custody for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence along with  making criminal threats. The victim did not require medical treatment for her injures. The Lieutenant says Dorton is well known to law enforcement authorities.
