A controversial mine water treatment project has been given the go-ahead by Nevada County supervisors. It would feature a series of pumps to treat stormwater drainage from North Star Mine tunnels that picks up naturally-occurring minerals…notably iron, manganese, and arsenic, which is toxic. That also has been draining into Wolf Creek. The board rejected an appeal by a number of residents along Allison Ranch Road.
