The new federal coronavirus stimulus bill, or CARES Act funding, passed by Congress, will not include money for any cities and counties this time. Nevada County Executive Office Analyst, Barry Anderson, says only local governments representing at least half-a-million people benefitted from the first round, earlier this year, which left us out. But he says the state government decided to share its allotment, and sent 10-million dollars here…
It also included support for police departments and the Distance Learning Center at the Fairgrounds. But Anderson says he’s not surprised Nevada County is being completely shut out this time, with local and state funding being one of the points of contention for the Senate and House…
And Anderson says many county residents will benefit from funding boosts for public safety net services, including unemployment help, payroll support, and rent assistance, as well as the stimulus checks.
