Summer may not be the same this year for children on the Ridge in North San Juan. Diana Pasquini with the North San Juan Family Resource Center says in the past they were receiving funds from the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, Soroptimist of the Sierra Foothills and Nevada County Community Block Grant  funding to put on summer sports programs and art camps for the local a children.

In true Ridge style a large part of the community is stepping up to provide entertainment, food for sale and events for the children. Pasquini says the fundraiser will be a big Earth Day celebration on Saturday April 23rd. from 2 pm to 10 pm.

Then at 5 pm the entertainment moves into the Oak Tree Lodge for music and dancing by several bands .

Pasquini says they’re hoping to get a good turnout and raise enough money to be able to provide sports and art camps this year.
