The Nevada Union Cheerleading Team is seeking to return to the force it once was and is hoping the community will assist them. Besides cheering and supporting NU Football and Basketball, second year Cheer Coach Kindra Britt says the team wants to start Competition Cheerleading and is looking to do so in December.

Besides time and training, the Cheer Team also needs to come up with the funds in order to participate in competitions.

The Competition Team is made up of cheerleaders from all squads and also includes males, so competition uniforms must also be acquired. Travel and event entry fees are an additional expense as well. Britt and the coaches are volunteering their time and creating a lot of the elements of the performance because of their commitment to making the team happen.

The NU Cheer Team is having a fundraiser Spaghetti Dinner at Charlie’s Cafe in Grass Valley this Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM and is $10 per person. Britt is hoping that the team can raise several thousand dollars in order to compete in 3 local competitions in the Sacramento area in December and January and perform well enough to qualify for Nationals in Anaheim in March.
