NU Senior Organizes Project Helping Poor Children

She went there as a freshman. And now, for her senior project, Nevada Union High School student Bonnie Brown is planning another trip to an impoverished area of Mexico, to help children who also have to drop out of school to do farm work….

Brown is president of the student community service club called Interact. It’s the student arm of the Rotary Club. She’s organizing 9 students to go to Colima for a week in February, which is on Mexico’s Pacific north coast. They’re also accompanied by an adult Rotarian chaperone. It’s called Project Amigo. But her mother, Nicky Brown, says it’s not cheap to go there, with fundraisers underway…

Nicky Brown says after middle school, if the Mexican students want to go to high school they have to pay fees. If you’d like to make a donation, get in touch with the group Interact, at Nevada Union High School.
