Nuclear Threat Topic Of Educational Forum

A 20-year-old Nevada City woman who wants to eliminate nuclear weapons is the guest speaker Tuesday evening, January 5th, for the first Educational Forum of the year of the Nevada County Democratic Central Committee. Committee member Paul Berger says Elissa Karim ,a sophomore at Cornell University, is also the president of the university chapter of Global Zero Action, an international nonpartisan effort formed in response to the growing threats of proliferation and nuclear terrorism. Global Zero Action is dedicated to achieving a phased, verified elimination of all nuclear weapons. Karim will also tell the audience how they can join that effort. The Forum is part of the Nevada County Central Committee meeting, which begins at 5:30 this evening, at Peace Lutheran Church, at 828 West Main Street in Grass Valley.
