A Nevada City man was stopped by a Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputy for having an obstructed license plate, but he also ended up in jail on drug charges. Captain Jeff Pettit says the deputy saw the Toyota Tundra on Idaho-Maryland Road at about 6:30 Tuesday evening and followed the vehicle to a local fast food restaurant and initiated a traffic stop. He asked the driver for his Drivers license and registration .The Driver, 60 year old John Springsteen told the deputy he had a drivers license that was expired, but a records check showed that the license had actually been suspended.
The Deputy then searched the truck.
Pettit says while the deputy was taking an inventory he located a small bag of marijuana as well as a broken glass methamphetamine pipe.
Springsteen was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transport of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.
