Occupancy Tax Applies to Campgrounds

Campgrounds within the city limits of Nevada City are subject to the Transient Occupancy Tax just like hotels. The issue was clarified at Wednesday’s City Council meeting. Council member Evans Phelps clarifies why the he issue was originally brought to the table.

City Attorney Hal Degraw, in combination with a member of the public, also confirmed that the ordinance and revision do not refer to residential properties used for rental purposes.

Council member Duane Strawser also confirmed the agenda item was more of a clerical formality than a major change to policy.
