Off-Duty Sutter County Deputy Killed in Suspected Drunk Driving Accident

An off-duty Sutter County sheriff’s deputy was killed when the vehicle he was riding in crashed into a rock wall just before midnight Wednesday Nov 7 in Yuba County.
Rory Roguski, 25, died at the scene after the 1999 Ford Mustang he was riding in spun out of control near Smartsville on Highway 20 just west of the CDF Fire Station 40 and smashed head-on into the rock wall.
Roguski was off-duty at the time of the crash.
Erin Marie Jasper, 26, a friend of Roguski’s, was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Yuba-Sutter CHP Public Information Officer, Jodi Beck, said Jasper was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when things went bad.

The vehicle eventually came to rest on the shoulder of westbound highway 20.
Neither Jasper nor Roguski were wearing seat belts.

Jasper was was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
